Stepping out of my comfort zone one blog tip at a time

I found this really great site for putting a signiture at the end of your post. It was incredibly easy, which I'm all about. I found it at this site as well as how to apply a link to a word on my post and add a picture from the web the easy way.

I get so nervous when it comes to this technical blog stuff. I know that seems silly but it's way out of my comfort zone. So, I've decided I am going to take a step out of my comfort zone now and again and see what i can learn.

I think I've filled my quota for the month, wouldn't you say?

Just kidding! I still have so much to learn... sigh...

My most recent read was this book, THE HUNGER GAMES. I loved it! It was AMAZING! Here is what's on the from flap:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before -- and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Yeah, it's good. A little violent for kids maybe but good!

You can read the first chapter by downloading the pdf from the official website http://www.thehungergames.co.uk/about_the_book . Just be careful becuase you may get hooked just like I did. It took me a couple of months on a waiting list to get this book from the library. It was totally worth the wait.

Found these and just had to post them!

Landon LOVES Grant. Yes, they're starting to fight over toys but he definately loves him. I just love that he loved him from the start. These pictures just melted my heart. They may be more for me than anyone else but i always want to remember the way Landon held him that first time.
Okay, i can't stop there, here are a few others.
Oh my hugeness...

The Mickey Mouse Pancake

I think there is an unwritten law that all children must at least once in their lifetime experience the Mickey Mouse Pancake. For some reason the shape of the pancake makes all the difference. It just tastes better. It's like how your favorite color of M&M's are somehow yummier than the others. I don't know... it's just the way it is. I don't question. I just obey the law.

Lucky for me at our house Nick has a soft spot for pancakes and waffles and since I don't like to get up and cook a big ole' breakfast all that often he's sort of taken on the roll of Pancake man. It's nice to sit back and have someone else cook your meal every once in a while. Lately though we've been cooking some meals together which I like even more than getting a break.

Party like a Rockstar!

Landon turned the big 3 in November! What a leap it is from 2 to 3. Kids change so much it's just incredible. Sometimes I wish I could be that much smarter just after one year. I think I'm going the other direction :)

We were in the middle of moving and Thanksgiving is right around there so we almost didn't have a birthday party. It was sort of a last minute thing. I'm glad we did though. It was a lot of fun. I really like the idea of giving kids getting the spotlight for one day. It's their special day. I think that's why I chose the ROCK STAR theme. There was so much chaos going on he needed to be a Rock Star for a day. There wasn't a whole lot to it but the kids had a good time and that's what counts. They got to make their own band and rock out which lasted all of 1 min. They may have been too young for that one... They got to show off their crazy ROCK STAR DANCE MOVES while they played freeze and go. Of course we had cake and ice cream and opened presents. I wanted to make a really cool guitar on the cake but the frosting sort of came out in a gush so I just sort of went with it. It was really great to have family and friends share the day with him.
